In September of 2016 I fell in love with quilting. I made my first project with fabric I had purchased in New Jersey while visiting my parents. My friend Karen was a seasoned quilter and was happy to teach me how to assemble a quilt. Little did I know then that I had found another hobby and passion I love as much as cooking! I will post my quilts here as I have time. By December 2016, I had finished a lap sized quilt, two twin size quilts for my two college age daughters. I was hooked. Karen quilted them for me on the long arm. Smaller projects, I hope to quilt myself.
This Fall I was sewing on my Pfaff Mechanical sewing machine, trying to finish a table runner in time for Thanksgiving. I had been researching newer machines with features my current Pfaff does not have – features like needle up or down, start and stop button, speed control and so forth. But while I was sewing this project, I realized I really do love my Pfaff. It still has beautiful stitch quality and works like a charm. It was not that I needed a new machine… what I really desired was better tools to go with my machine. Things like an extension table and an open toe free motion foot. I am still learning so much, but I love the challenge of having those points meet!
The above project is from modabakeshop the pattern is called turning leaves and was a free download. Instead of making a pillow I made three and turned it into a table runner. It was wonderful to have a finished project that I had also free motion quilted myself.
