About

Becky at Traunsee

Hi, my name is Becky and I am a home cook.  I have been married over 25 years, have three children, two of them now young adults.  I live in Southern California but have lived in various places in my lifetime.  This blog was first created to have an easy way to share some of my favorite recipes with friends and family, but I have enjoyed watching it grow over time.  I am not an expert authority on cooking, but it is one of my passions.

Here you will find a collection of recipes I have tried that are new, or old favorites that I want to share.  Avgolemono Soup is one of my favorite soups and my children request it often too.  Basil Cream Chicken and Warm Italian Style Pasta Salad are also among my top favorites on the blog that I have had in my recipe file for some years now.

My favorite cookbooks or magazines: Cuisine at Home, America’s Test Kitchen Publications, Cook’s Country, Ina Garten’s Cookbooks and program on TV, Good Eats with Alton Brown, Melissa D’Arabian.  Internet sites are also a great source of mine with favorites like Pioneer Woman, allrecipes, For the Love of Cooking, Steamy kitchen

I grew up in Austria, but am American by nationality.  I have added a few Austrian/German recipes over time and have discovered that the internet traffic that finds my blog is because of some of those Austrian dishes. My husband is of German decent and he also has a real love for German foods.  I traditionally make German food on Christmas Eve.  I  took a trip to Austria in 2011 to visit my brother and sister in law, who live there with their 4 children.  My brother from PA and my parents from NJ also made the trip.  The photo above is me at Traunsee in Upper Austria (April 2011).

As a child, I  always enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, either with my mother, or at my Grandma’s house in Western Pennsylvania, who was also a wonderful cook.  She made the most wonderful pies.  I am thankful that the love of cooking gene, if there is such a thing, was passed on to me.

My photography is a work in progress and dreams of publishing a cookbook are still dreams…thank you for stopping by.
